SPEAKER_02What are we doing? We'll work it through. We're gonna work it through. Okay. Well, I'd like to talk about some sex, but what's up, what's up, what's up, puffin' drink family. Let's go for it. My man Dr. D said, let's go for it. We uh gonna go a little off the cuff this time. I don't know where the hell we're gonna end up, but we're gonna do it. We'll figure it out when we get there. Exactly. I'm riding a cute love, throwing it over to Hey, I'm Byron B.
SPEAKER_00And I do have a pairing for the day. Okay. I I just ordered a bunch of these fuckers, some tatianas, and I have like four different flavors. So whenever you come up to the house, you can try yours, your different.
SPEAKER_02You do know that. I'm not gonna smoke my shit on vanilla tatiana with Jameson.
unknownOoh. Ooh.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Smooth and smooth. Yeah, that's a good taste. Hey, good parent right there. Smooth and smooth.
SPEAKER_02I'm Jim Quad for and again, guys, you know, uh the to his point and everything else. I had a good cigar the other day, and I'm gonna have to share it with y'all. Okay. All right, we'll talk about it. We'll get into it. All right, Denizelle Cotton, I'm a teacher. Well, that's the most we've heard out of you all now.
SPEAKER_01All right, get a chance, man.
SPEAKER_00I appreciate

SPEAKER_00y'all, man. There we go. Yeah, thank you guys. Good to see you guys. All right. Good to see you guys.
SPEAKER_02So talk to me about this pairing, man. What were we doing, man? What are we doing? So yeah, so yeah.
SPEAKER_00So like I said, I went on Cigar International and they had a special on Tatiana's. So I got like 20 of them. Varieties. A sampler. Give us a sample. A sampler. Reasonable price. Okay, okay. Uh so I ordered it. Right. Now I would have said the vanilla with the vanilla, me familiar, tequila. Okay, which is good. But I had it with a jamison this time. And I know Dennis, you really don't smoke the cigars and everything. Shh. Okay. But you do do the Irish coffee, so you know about the jamison.
SPEAKER_02And he does he's he's cultural.
SPEAKER_00He does Irish coffee. So you know how smooth that is. Yes. You know how smooth that is. Now I'm gonna tell you.
SPEAKER_02But you know what's smoother? The Buffalo Trace. Oh.
SPEAKER_00Huh. In the Irish coffee? Of course. The Buffalo Trace.
SPEAKER_02So it ain't Irish then. It's it's American. It's fine.
SPEAKER_00It's a Western coffee.
SPEAKER_02Western coffee. There you go. There we go.
SPEAKER_00You know what? You might make me get up tomorrow morning.
SPEAKER_02I know that's right. Right.
SPEAKER_00The Buffalo Trace.
SPEAKER_02A couple of pieces of bacon. Shit. We're talking about bacon on the way or something. We were talking about bacon.
SPEAKER_00Man. Man. Okay, so we might have to stop by in the grocery store on the way home. Oh, we're on here, guys.
SPEAKER_02I got one. When you get done, I got one that's gonna set y'all off.
SPEAKER_00All right, so yeah, so that vanilla tatiana.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00What that Jameson was, I mean smooth and smooth. It was actually it was good. And my wife hates I use the word delicious when I'm drinking something. Well, what why?
SPEAKER_02What word should you use?
SPEAKER_00I have no idea.
SPEAKER_02Does it make you seem bougie? No, it could be the way he says it. You know, you know, most men say delicious. You know, he says delicious. No, no, no, no. Didn't they see your own? No. Didn't they see yourself?
SPEAKER_00I definitely throw I have to throw colorful words.
SPEAKER_02You do you put some base in your boys? Okay, all right, okay.
SPEAKER_00This shit was delicious.
SPEAKER_02There we go. That's better. That's better. I like that. Okay.
SPEAKER_00That's what I say and everything. But she hates when I use the word delicious, describing something drinking. Okay. Especially alcohol. Oh, yeah.
Parker Sausage Rum And Ogre 13
SPEAKER_00You know what I'm saying? Because I've had some some tequilas, they're fucking delicious.
SPEAKER_02I did, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yes. Now I fucked up over the weekend and went down to Houston Market to the Central Market. That's for anybody who knows anything down to Central Market.
SPEAKER_00I tried to catch you down there. You were gone.
SPEAKER_02Well, I ran in and got my shit and roll. It's like 900 people there.
SPEAKER_00You didn't enjoy it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I I got the hell on. So anyway, inside the central market, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So was there. All right. They got the park of sausages. Has y'all have y'all have y'all had the park of sausages? I got some uh in the freezer right now. Well, the one I got was kind of mild too hot, but it wasn't really bad at all. Okay. So again, they had the park of sausages. So my happy ass, I'm like, okay, I'm gonna take these home, throw them in the air fryer, boom, boom, boom, see what we got, right? Okay, so tossed them in the air fryer, boom, got it crisped out and everything else, bit into it, skin snap, boom. Jimmy did something a little bit different. Okay, Jimmy had some rum. All right, Jimmy poured him a little rum. Jimmy lit up, hear me when I say this, okay, an asylum ogre 13. My favorite shit. Okay, all right, lit up the asylum ogre 13.
SPEAKER_00You never brought us one.
SPEAKER_02Well, you ain't asked. I didn't know you like asylums? Okay, well, fuck it. I get you. I got you. Okay, okay. Asylum Ogre 13. Okay, lit it up, yeah, sitting in the garage, had on a pair of sweatpants and and a t-shirt. Leave me the fuck alone, Dennis. You ejaculated on your damn near. You were noodling yourself with it. It's the game my birthday. I mean, I was just gonna say y'all some high volume life folks. So I'm sitting in the garage. I got I got the ogre going. Yeah, I I had me a little rum, and I'm sitting there with with with some white bread. Shut the fuck up, Dennis. Okay, I know you know because I know he was looking at me. I already knew I knew he was coming with me. Yeah, I seen his face. So the white bread and I ask muscle. I I said it right. I don't know anything. I don't eat nobody, I ain't never met nobody eat mustard. You know, it yellows mustard. I had some muscle. Yellows. I had the yellow muscles, I had the plotchmans. I had the plotchmans, all right. Yeah, shot the plotchmas on it, all right. I'm sitting there in the garage, snapped into the sausage, took me a shot of the actual rum, and took me a drag off of the ogre. God damn it.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_02That's called living. You didn't need nothing else with it. You didn't need nothing else. Yeah, that was a moment of zen for my ass.
SPEAKER_00It literally was eat, drink, smoke.
SPEAKER_02Eat, drink, smoke, living your best life. I was living my best life. The only thing I was missing was a high ass fart, and I would have been T. I mean, but still, I mean, it's just the point that everything had been achieved. Okay. So now,
Upgrading The Sausage With Bacon
SPEAKER_02one other thing you can do with that Parker sausage, wrap it in bacon. Oh shit, that's illegal. Wrap it in some bacon. That's illegal over on the south side of Detroit. And and and put some chili over.
unknownWith the bacon?
SPEAKER_02With the bacon, yeah, and put some chives over that joint too. God, see this I'm just now that's a math problem.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02I gotta I gotta figure that out. Do I care no more?
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02Man, we need some silly shit.
SPEAKER_00Let me regroup the sausage.
SPEAKER_02I'm telling you, see, see, you know, you know how we do the actual you know how everybody we we do the pairings, and we always try to do the parents with like, you know, some chicken or some ribs or some beef and shit. No, you can get basic with it. That parking sausage was as basic as it got. Yeah, it is, man. You know, you can you put that on, then like I said, I had no buns, I wasn't going back out to go no goddamn buns. So I had white bread. Fuck it, line it up.
SPEAKER_00You know, that's how we used to do back in the day. That's how it worked. Back in the day. Back in the day. Hey, white bread was your bun.
SPEAKER_02That's it. Hot dog bun. I didn't even know. Hamburger bun. Shit. French toast. French toast. And then one day we discovered wheat bread. Oh man. See, wheat bread was for you know, them hot flute. Yeah, yeah.
White Bread Memories And Milk Debates
SPEAKER_02Your daddy had a job.
SPEAKER_00Damn.
SPEAKER_02I'm not gonna say, I'm not gonna say I grew up on wheat bread. So wheat bread, y'all got y'all don't eat no white bread. Oh, you know, and then you get over somebody's house and ask that shit. You know, you ain't gonna y'all eat no white bread. I don't eat no goddamn wheat.
SPEAKER_00Look, I grew up on wheat bread and two percent milk.
SPEAKER_02Oh man, oh man, damn. Did you stick out when you ate your food? Oh no, yeah. He didn't get Kroger brand, uh uh uh fruity pebbles. This motherfucker actually got the Kroger, he actually got the legitimate fruity pebbles. He got legitimate the whole box. Did you have the pies out the box too? I bet he had a little map on the back of the box and shit. He was thinking he was doing the mazes and shit on the back came in a fucking box.
SPEAKER_00I think I think they're calling you a snob stuff. I think that I think you gotta call me. But it's okay. It's okay.
SPEAKER_02He is a snob. What you talking about? You know, Mr. I I I had two percent milk. Man, two percent. I would have gotten my ass stoned walking in the house for that. My mom sent my ass to the store to get a gallon of milk. Your ass go to the store, get the gallon of milk, you go get the gallon of milk. You don't take and decide today is the day you ain't gonna get Borden's. Who told you to get something else? Oh, you got a two percent ass whooped. You're gonna go in the mama. You I sent your ass to the store to get a gallon of Bowtans. Oh, okay. You know, I said shit. I knew that was the only move that everybody drank. Borden. Okay. So all right, you're right. You're right. All right, but let's let's be real. Once we all went to college and and graduated and gotten our careers and everything, all right. You know, we all all of us, including me, we all went from you know, drinking coffee black to a mocha, yeah, yeah, we did. 2% milk.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm a I'm an almond milk now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm almond milk. Oh I'm almond milk or soy. Gosh damn in here. I didn't know I was sitting with two high polluting Negroes here. Oh my god. Well, you know, Starbucks knows exactly.
SPEAKER_00Tell him, Dennis, tell him, Dennis. Mr.
SPEAKER_02Negroes milk? Did you say soy? Yes, he did. I'm sorry, he said I'm in Mr. You know that's way north of eight miles. Yeah, yeah. You know, Dennis, to your point and everything else, every now and again I do drift back. I buy a can of spam, I'll go get my sardines and my banana sausages. Fuck y'all. Hey, did you try the Korean spam yet? Yes, sir. I did, sir. That shit is awfully good.
SPEAKER_00Now, wait a minute, hold on now.
SPEAKER_02I keep a spam and a spam. Oh, well, you gotta have the spam. You gotta have the spam. Yes. And if you really want to fuck around, get you a can of potty meat.
SPEAKER_00Got that too?
SPEAKER_02Get your can of potty meat and and some uh uh what is that shit that uh you get at the store? They uh the spread that you mix up with the potty meat that it has the little that red devil spam, yes. Yeah, some in the fridge in the fridge.
SPEAKER_00Yes, but it's gotta be on writs, yes, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_02You if you dare put that shit on what what's that other shit that uh no, no, you ain't putting no writ, put on saltines.
SPEAKER_00No man, you gotta be rich.
SPEAKER_02No, gotta be rich. Well, now what side of eight mile are we on here? It all depends on what's important, depending on the day. Now we're on the south side of eight mile, yeah. Way south, yeah, way south closer to 94 in Jefferson. But see, that was perfect when you're going fishing. Oh my god. But shit, that was a perfect for you know on a Saturday meal. Shit. But no, when you when you're on that Detroit River casting that shit, like I hope I get something other than a can. You know what? You remember when you stepped out and then you bought your own souse meat? Oh, yeah. You bought your own souse meat where you went from the mild to the hot, hot damn. Some souse meat and some saltines.
SPEAKER_00I ain't had to not rich. I ain't had to go buy it. Now that you do put on saltines. Yeah, dude. I didn't have to go out and buy that because my granddad made it. He made sauce? Yes. God.
SPEAKER_01Back down memory lane.
SPEAKER_00The hot sauce. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You ain't been right ever since, have you? Man, ain't had none since. Man, I know one spot in the hood that you gotta, you gotta take your 45. But I know a spot in the hood where you can go down and go get it, and he'll still slice it off the block. Oh. Okay. But you know, he's got the I hate to say this, he has the ethnic hours where you gotta get there between um 10 and 2. Oh my god. Is that after you check in with probation? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Before shit go off. He got to make it back to the outway house. I mean, yeah, you know, I mean, yeah, I gave him a ride a few times. He like, man, the bus ain't running,
Detroit Deli Classics And Esquire
SPEAKER_02bro. Can you hook me on? I will give you five dollars on the gas, but I ain't got that either. Wow. Hey, I asked you a long time ago, is that square still open? Man, that's been that's a hole in the ground.
SPEAKER_00But we were just talking about it on the way here.
SPEAKER_02Go ahead. There is on 12 mile and telegraph road. The owner, well, I'm I'm assuming the guy's dead, but the owner opened up Stardeli and they make them just like at Esquire. Yeah, Esquire. Really? Really?
SPEAKER_00Yep, and I go there all the time. He just told me that.
SPEAKER_02Stardeli, right there across it that's in that strip mall. Yeah, right in the strip mile. Okay, I know. Same side of Star Mile. There's a wine liquor store right there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Right there. I go there.
SPEAKER_00And then now open a Tesla right next to it. Yeah, they open up the Tesla dealership then.
SPEAKER_02Well, you gotta go see some shit on fire. You know, I gotta pistol some building. You know, a great place to set some shit on fire. It will not last long. I don't think so. And the person who found it was Pop because he would go there and get his chubs all the time. Stardeli. Stardeli. Yep, and and we were talking, and the guy was like, Oh, yeah, I used to have one or Dexter, and I was like, What what? Man, and so I get the New Yorker, the New Yorker's a pastramian corned beef on rye with mustard, the way I get it. And and if you say enough squares, yeah, you can, but you don't, but you don't do squares and you don't know squares. Okay. No, no, I mine straight up straight up meat and bread. Straight up sand, meat and bread. There you go. Yeah, and they wrap that motherfucker up in that plastic, and bruh, it steams itself. Yeah. I I get a bag of those goddamn salt and vinegar chips with it, and I was telling them I'd be sitting around eating, just giggling.
SPEAKER_00And wait a minute. So we riding, right? Wait, hey, wait, wait, Jimmy, we riding this fucking listen. What the fuck is wrong with you? He's like, what?
SPEAKER_01Y'all wasn't even eating.
SPEAKER_00We wouldn't even eat.
SPEAKER_01He started that snickering and shit.
SPEAKER_02Just putting that gunfire is like back at home. Yeah, yeah. Look at that. What the fuck is wrong with you, man?
SPEAKER_00Yo, yo, drinks are cut off in the car.
SPEAKER_02I know that's right. And the one thing that they'll do that's not like Esquire, they'll let you sample the corned beef. So if you want fatty or if you want, you know, more thick. Which one you want before they slice it off with you?
SPEAKER_01What you have those? Joke, that's right.
SPEAKER_02We might have to stop that on the way home. Yeah. So they already know my order when I call there's hell. Don't worry, we got you covered. We know what you like. Wow. I remember Esquire. That was a good place. I stayed on Dexton Collins. Yo, we stayed. There you go. Yeah. I remember when the sandwiches went from three dollars to five. My mom and dad about it.
SPEAKER_00Three dollars to five. The what? The sandwiches. The sandwiches.
SPEAKER_02You heard me say it, right? I'm giving them a classification. The price. And he's like, the what? Sandwiches. Sandwiches. I ain't never had a sandwich. How much time we got left? I'm sorry. How much time we got left? Because we're supposed to be talking about sex. Tell me who? Well, shit, but the the food comes first. Okay, all right, all right. I'm cool with that, but but now I now all four of our ass is hungry as hell, too. So but you know what? If you want to throw sex into it, I I you know, I met a girl at this. And in the back they would have a dice game going on. Well, that no, no, no, it wasn't in the very back, it was also on the side of the building. Yeah, yeah. You know, off on the side of the building where it was Kazaboo there and everybody else. Yeah, but I had old Nova that I got me some in with the girl who was getting the sandwich. No, I I couldn't afford no no color on it, it was prime. Okay, now here's the real question Did you sell your share your sandwich? Well, now that is a whole different story. Okay, all right, okay. All right, sounds like he didn't share his sandwich.
SPEAKER_00And and and and to make this clear, this was off the cuff. Yes, no, not what you just said it was. What'd I say? I forgot that explicit word. Oh six, yeah. Well, well, well, uh, we got it this way. We had 30 seconds about that.
SPEAKER_02I mean, uh, I'm
Neighborhood Change And Leaving Detroit
SPEAKER_02thinking this conversation though, going back in the day, just yeah, is there anything there now? Is it boarded up? It's a hole in the ground there and trying to turn it on into the it was actually like an avenue of fashion at one point in time. Yep, yeah. They they tried, they tried. I drive through the hood periodically, uh, you know, once every other month, just when the stout just to see how the others are living.
SPEAKER_00So the the house the house that the wife and I stayed in on Collywood and Dexter is still there. Really? The house next to it is gone. And the whole time we stayed there, that house stayed abandoned. It stayed abandoned, you know. But the house we stayed in is still there, and it periodically we do drive through there just to look at it, just to look at it and everything.
SPEAKER_02You know, just to give you some real nostalgia, did you know Rob when he stayed on Buna Vista off of Linwood? No, see, we grew up pretty much together from the fourth grade, and you remember that movie, Don't Don't Speak. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was on Buna Vista. His that house, he stayed, his family had a flat and it caught on fire and you know it burned down, but it was on that block where they did the movie. I had to drive down there just to just to verify. I got I got a okay. Look, all of us from Detroit, right? Okay, right, right, right, right, right. Okay, so still there. All right, since we're talking shit, because this is all we're talking about. When did you move and how did how did it happen? When did you move out of the city and how did it happen? You know what? It's funny. I'm still there when we bust up, but you in the good section, but I'm still there, yeah. Well, but you in the nice section, okay. So that don't count. But you mean it don't count? I mean, you moved out of Detroit, but you didn't move out of Detroit. He's in Detroit, in Detroit. Okay, whatever. He lives in a very nice stays in the highfalutin part. Exactly. Oh, okay, exactly. Bro, so you know that's what I'm trying to say. Okay, you know, I'm gonna tell you, just and I hate to give up my age, but we were the first black family on our block. That was not uncommon. Really? We were the first black family now that's good.
SPEAKER_00We were on our block when my dad still stays. I'm 56. My dad been there 57, 58 years, still there.
SPEAKER_02Man, we were there to the point where they would have a horse that did the vegetable wagon. I remember that. Well, they still delivered milk. Yep, I'm sorry, in Detroit. In Detroit, they would deliver milk. You would see the milk man come by and you go to your side door and drop that shit off. I remember the side by the side door, by the side door. I I remember in Detroit on Homer. Yeah, because Borden's was right next to us. Same here. Get the fuck out. Yep. I remember when old boy used to come down the street. Same here. Now, what was it? He did the tropical can of papaya. He did the glass bottle. It was the it was the the glass bottles were about like that, and then they had the little thing rounded and everything else, and you pop the lid off and everything else. But you had to save the glass, okay. So they would take the glass. And then take the glass back, and then you know, you exchange it back out for some more juice.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02You know, but that was the but it was papaya, orange juice, Tropicana. You know, tried that. Yeah. I remember that. Well, I must have lived in the Poaz section. But hell, what was that? Eight, nine blocks down? Yeah. Yeah. I'm telling you, I do not remember the milk. It was it was uncanny that I mean, we had a neighbor, and I still remember her name, Miss Julie. She had a nursery in her backyard, plum trees, everything. Yeah, yeah. Man, she wouldn't mind if you climb it. Man, that's where I learned how to climb trees and everything. In the back, you got apples and everything. She was like, You got enough? And then all of a sudden, I noticed by the time I was 11, the white folks start moving out. Oh that's about right. It started moving out. All right, yep. And then, you know, the renters moved in. The renters. Yep. And then when the crack hit, that was it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_0085.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, crack really hit about 84, 85.
SPEAKER_02I'm hearing about around 84, 85, 86 area. Everybody was talking about crackhouse. Okay, so where did we go from the high pollutant side to the post side? Was it Dexter? You know, it must have been because I don't remember the milk. Because I'm gonna be honest. At one point in time, because this was still during the time where you could go to the store and they had a butcher in the store. Yep. Every I remember on Facebook from Lynnwood all the way up, there was an there was a business for everything. Hell, I remember a butcher used to be a job that if you can't, it was a career. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You had to go to school to be a butcher. Yeah. So to that point and everything else, just like you said, you could always find in your corner store had a butcher. Yeah, it was it was respected. It was a yeah, like you had a career. I mean, you didn't have to go downtown and shop, or you didn't have to go anywhere. No, everything was in walking distance. Yep. You had you were not in a food oasis. I was under the assumption at one point in time, I was like, man, every every black family that I knew then, they father, they they own something. I, you know, I never seen you know anybody. He he would have the most recent Cadillac or the most recentness. And I was like, Man, shit, I shit, life ain't but you know, as we got older and things started changing, and when we ended up leaving, I got back from college because you know, I didn't get that promised fucking job then. Uh who did? Yeah, that's how I picked my drink up. You know, that highfalutin' job I thought I was really good. And my father was like, somebody tried to follow him into the house. And he was he turned around and fucked this motherfucker. Wow. And he was like, Bert, that
Bread Factories Pop Bottles And Tahitian Treat
SPEAKER_02was my mom's name, you know. Get the pack and we getting the fuck up on it.
SPEAKER_00I got two things growing up that really stuck in my mind. Driving up Grand River, okay, all right, going towards downtown, okay, right where Motor City is right now, all right, was the wonder bread. Yes, yes, yes, yep, and driving past there, smelling that fresh bread, smelling that fresh bread.
SPEAKER_02Well, Buttercrust wasn't too far from there either. Buttercrust actually had a plant too. What was it on the corner where we met Oakland and think hostess cupcakes? Yep, yeah, yeah, yeah. We heisted some cupcakes that night. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I was still in London. Wasn't that over off Oakland? Yeah, focus hope right now. Yeah, it's focused hope right now. Focus Hope right now. You know, now they had uh Sarah Lee just down the street from there because we would get those cakes from there. Auri was uh it was Aurie Bakery, yeah, you had Aury Bakery, you had Sanders. Sanders, you know, everybody went to Sanders. Yes, yes, oh my god, man, in Holland Park. Highland Park.
SPEAKER_00I guess that'll not be out. What is the pop that we all used to get in the wooden crate?
SPEAKER_02Oh, Sago Town Club Club. Town Club was right there on Grand River next door to uh Baskin Robinson. Yeah, you know, and Baskin Robins, you would go over to town club, you know, and get because every time somebody would have a shindig, that's where you go and get your pie. Yeah, because there wasn't sales, nobody went to sales, there wasn't no sales, right? Yeah, so it wasn't no Costco's or anything. You go right over to town club, yeah, and then you get two cases or two 24 packs, and then everybody, but then when they drank they shit, don't throw the bottle away. Yeah, put the bottle over there and let me rinse it out. Right, that's a return. You got the water hole, you got the water holes rinsing it out, yeah. I got one for you. Now, y'all remember Tahitian Treat, right? Yeah, yeah. High ass cott caffeine hell. Well, now you remember you only saw it in the bottle. It used to come in a little pill top. It used to come in a little plastic hookup, and you would have to peel it off. Then they realized you know what, we ain't giving enough uh sugar to these boys. Then they put it in the glass, yeah. I remember the glass because I remember we were in grade school, and you would have that for your lunch, your Tahitian treat, and you would peel that bad boy back. And what

I don't know what I'm looking at. It's the word you know, after a few backhands, it's called a word. Then I went to the Catholic school and I got beat every fucking day there. But they but you learn how to read. Oh, yeah, Sister Margaret. I I I think it was some SN shit with the children, with the children.
