Remembering Eric Coleman
SPEAKER_04Okay. Before we begin, just wanted to give heartfelt tribute to one of our part-time members. He's my nephew, Eric Coleman, who passed. Hell of a nephew, hell of a man. It was an emotional, homegoing. He leaves behind a son, ex-wife, and a fond boat of memories. Seen that boy come in, and it was painful to see him go out. But Eric was one hell of a man. And the time that we had with him was heartfelt.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. We had we go to Instagram, you belong to Instagram or whatever. Go to Instagram, and you'll see Eric on a couple of our podcasts when he filled in. And very likable guy. Very likable guy. I have nothing to say bad about guy. You know, I don't like this one sitting across from me. Well, that's another story. That's it. Mind your business. Mind your business.

SPEAKER_03Eric was one of those kind of guys, but you know, when I first met Eric, he walked me into his home. You know, Doris and I went over and had dinner with him and everything else. We had it was a big barbecue in his backyard, and we it I don't think I've known I didn't know Eric that long, but it felt like I've known him a lifetime. Exactly. He was that kind of guy, you know, and and the and the thing that I thought was so amazing about him and everything else is that we actually had kinship because he did IT like I do. You know, and there was time in that, and Roddy probably doesn't know this, and I don't know if Eric told him, but I have reached out to Eric. I reached out to Brian as well, you know, whenever I needed, you know, certain things or I was curious about certain things because Brian does certain things that I he's aware of, I did. And then the same thing with Eric. So I would reach out to them and everything else was you know, because you want to keep it in the house. Yeah, you know, I'm gonna be honest, you just want to keep it in the house. Then, but you know, Eric was the kind of guy, you know, throughout the back and forth and everything else, you know, and and naturally when if I was ribbing him or anything too much and everything else, fuck you, Jimmy. Yeah, I know, I know. Right, right. Have a good day, Eric. You know, fuck you, Jimmy. Okay, you know, the usual shit. Okay, yeah, that's my favorite word. Exactly. Fuck you, Jimmy. I I don't know. That seems to be a moniker lately. Shit, I don't know what that is, but he was a good man. He was a good man, a good father. He was the kind of guy that again, you know, you didn't have to take long to get to know him. Right. You know, he was what he he he shared his world, and I and you know, he'd be dearly missed man. Seriously, he will.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. You know, and he had the personality that was you know, sometimes when you have that guy who could be funny over dry humor.
SPEAKER_02He was a free spirit, yeah. Yeah, definitely.

SPEAKER_04Like I remember one time when he took over my sister's dog, and he was cleaning at his old house or something like that, and he tripped and fell. And you know, he had a scar on his knee. Well, all of a sudden, you know, we're sitting around drinking, and the dog walks up and licks me. He was like, I don't want you to become a man-eater. Don't lick me, don't touch me.
SPEAKER_03You got to taste the blood in his system. Yeah, he was he was that kind of guy, man, you know, and you know, like I said, Eric, when when whenever you you hung out with him or anything like that, you know, it it felt like you've known him again, like I said, a lifetime. Absolutely. So, I mean, you know, he and again, I I would rip him all the time and everything else and stuff because he was a big sci-fi fan. Sci-fi and comic. Yeah, and he knew it blind, you know. So you can't take you, he was never the one that you were gonna actually take and try to have a conversation with about commerce, you know, about comic books. He knew it.
SPEAKER_04Right. You know, his favorite movie like yours was Starship Troopers. But the violence is we would always clash with Marvel and DC because he liked that faggot ass Superman.
SPEAKER_03I know, you know, even though shit. Yeah, even though I think Omni Man is better, that's just another story. I mean, I just I I since watching Invincible, that's that's another story. Okay, all right.

SPEAKER_03It was similar to that and everything else, but it was based upon our arcane, you know, the arcane game and everything else, but they were dressed in that you know, that this steampunk kind of thing. Okay, all right, yep, you know, again, that you gotta love him to know him, you know. You know, and it wasn't a bad guy, it was just you know, sad to see him go, and everything else is just one of those situations, unfortunately.
Life Is Too Short For Grudges
SPEAKER_01So I mean, which which kind of leads me to say this next statement life's too short. Yes, it is okay. Life too short to hold on to bullshit all day, yeah, all day, every day. Regretments. Okay, let's stop procrastinating. Yep, yeah. What about grudges?

Jaden Ivey And A Public Breakdown
SPEAKER_03Uh I don't know if you guys have been watching the news lately and there's anything else about Jason Ivey. You know, Jason Ivey is he's been a basket, he's an NBA player, first and foremost. Okay, but Jason Ivey has been bounced around team after team after team, and he stays injured all the time. He does. Oh, yes, you know, yeah, yep, exactly. So I know that this will get missed. Even if I know a lot of that, you know, Jason, Jason, his Jaden, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, and thank you. That damn public school it's spelling shit. So Jaden Ivy only thing missing is the helmet. I mean, yeah, window liquor. All right, go ahead.

SPEAKER_03Jaden got kicked off the Chicago Bulls earlier. That was it, earlier this week or late last week. And Jaden had a we Fernando brought this up. Right. He had a mental episode. And I mean a gigantic mental episode.
SPEAKER_01Before the let go or after?
SPEAKER_03A little bit of both. They said that it had been you know off and on, off and on on the team and everything else, and then other teams are reporting now. Go figure. Yeah, but they let him pass through from one team to the other, and nobody gets this man help. So he had a psychotic episode. He's still having that psychotic episode. He's standing outside of the Chicago Stadium, yeah, preaching. Oh boy, you know, yeah, he's gone. He stepped out a minute ago. And and and this goes back to, you know, your point about you know, life is too short. Life is too short. You know, you got health issues or anything like that. Yeah, we need to talk about that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03You know, as men, period. We just need to talk about that. And that's one of the things that with Jaden, he he he's he's having this episode, his family's already reported that this is he's had a history of this, you know, and it transferred over, everybody overlooked him or overlooked these things, you know, these little strange quirks that he had and everything else, because he was a fantastic basketball player in high school and college.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_03So he wouldn't have made the play, he wouldn't have made the pros, of course. But you overlooked that, knowing full well that this man has some issues. Instead of actually taking and saying, okay, you know, well, let's try to get this man some help. But instead he got packed. I think he he played on four or five different teams, if I'm correct. And then and that's the thing that's so sad about him. But again, he's now outside of the Chicago stadium. He's just out there preaching, he's doing this preaching thing, he's condemning people. He, you know, he found Jesus, and I heard he was on the milk carton. I'm sorry, but he was. He was on the milk card. So I'll pay for that. I know.
SPEAKER_04Anyway, even Jenner's like, I'm sorry, man.
SPEAKER_03He found Jesus, you know. I mean, you know, everybody was looking for him, so he but he found him. So I mean, he's like apparently he was on the milk carton. So that's that's for everybody knows what the milk carton is. If for those who don't, they used to put missing kids on missing missing people, period. Right on milk carton.

SPEAKER_04Right. But you know, one thing that stands out more than anything else, mental health, especially things of that magnitude, it's not solely based on income. No, you know, let's be clear about that. It's absolutely clear. Individuals that you know are plagued with it, it can go from it, it's it's it's not class related. No. So naturally, when you hear people saying, Well, why can't you get help and why can't you do that? It's not easy. It's not easy, it's not easy.
SPEAKER_01So you know, we're we're we're older, okay. We've speak for yourself. We we've endured ass is old. I mean, we've endured some stuff and we've dealt through it. Okay, it wasn't like we're gonna see a therapist and everything. Okay, so now we have this younger generation that we're actually working with at work
Depression And Dating Expectations
SPEAKER_01and everything. Got to talking with one of them at work, and one of the friends of them was like, they're sad, depressed. They have a double masters, they have their own home, own car, but they're sadly depressed because they don't have a man. Yeah, I see a lot of that.
SPEAKER_03See, that's oh, wait, wait, see that's okay. I'm gonna get yeah, I'm gonna let you have it out. I'm I got a whole mouthful of shit.
SPEAKER_01I mean and I didn't I I couldn't understand this. I mean, you have a double masters, okay. Now, you having a double masters, which means you weren't part of the dating scene because you were working on this double masters.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes, you got a ton of shit up under your belt.
SPEAKER_01You got a ton of shit under your belt. Okay, you've made accomplishments 32 age 32 double masters, your own car, you're paying for your own place, your own place in your name, not renting, you you own it, you made accomplishments somebody 40 doesn't even have shit 50 and 60. What are you talking about? And you're depressed because you don't have a man. Is she a pig? Is she ugly?

SPEAKER_01This is self-inflicted, which brings us back to what we're talking about, you know, with the Jaden Ivy and everything, you know. A lot of this stuff is self-inflicted.

Who Gets Help And Who Doesn't
SPEAKER_02Okay. It's possible that this Jason, Jaden, Jaden, yeah, Jaden, and that lady right there.

SPEAKER_02I probably could have had it, they could have had it in their heads from birth, right? And all it takes is something to unleash it or release it. I'm sorry. So a trigger. A trigger. So, you know, for her having a mental, a mental crisis, and you didn't exactly answer my question. Was she a pig? Well, no, I'm sorry, you did. You said no.

SPEAKER_02Uh, pig, whatever. So, you know, I I would really like to know more about this Jaden Ivy. I mean, he he was bounced around through four teams, and everybody's seen it, but they did no help.
SPEAKER_03So, you know, my question is, whatever he's going through, did he have it in his head and somehow it got like, I mean, I I would imagine to that point it uh from what I've been reading and everything else and understanding, he's been like that before he got anywhere near the league.

SPEAKER_03So bouncing around from team to team? No, no, no. The before he got to the league and everything else, he had some strange proclivities. Okay. So his family knew of his situation and everything else. I don't know if he was ever on medication. No one will admit that and everything else. When you hear him talk, he was not. No, I it's clear that that that that that you know that that that that twig has already snapped. You know, he's gone. He's he's out there right now and everything else. And then there's been a couple of instances and everything else. There was a a player that played for Cleveland Cavaliers, and he he had some drug issues and everything else, but he also had a severe mental break. And of course, he ended up on the street and everything else, and then they're trying to get him back and everything else. But it it again to your point, Rodney, is that it doesn't matter your class, right? You know, it doesn't matter if you're black, white, or you know, in the middle, it doesn't matter. You know, look at Kanye. Well, that's that's just been a history of just straight fucking crazy. You know, I said it, yeah, I meant it. And I and unchecked crazy. Uh well, if no, it was actually checked. It was actually checked. And he even on one of his raps and everything else, he even made it clear that he had stopped taking his medication. Yeah, he he blamed that it's it blocked his creativity.
SPEAKER_04So let me ask you this.
SPEAKER_01That's true, it probably did. Let me ask you this. How many people do you think play crazy that aren't crazy? I do that shit every day.
SPEAKER_03See, that's point intended. Well, again, that's that's hard to take.
SPEAKER_01I mean, because you you figure you figure you might be able to get more attention than playing crazy.

SPEAKER_01I mean, especially in stardom. Especially in stardom playing crazy and getting the attention, then not playing crazy, the same performance.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so used as an excuse for someone's you know eccentric behavior. An excuse. It could be an excuse. I agree. Yeah, I'm saying an excuse. Yep. Okay, and you have some people to Dennis's point that were born where there's some chemical imbalance.

SPEAKER_03But see, then it makes it difficult for the people who are really suffering. Exactly. That to me is what the problem comes in at to your point and everything else, it makes it very difficult.
SPEAKER_02Let me Ronnie, you said I don't remember exactly what you said, but it doesn't matter if you're rich or poor or does it? Because if you got the wealth and you know what's going on, you're more inclined to give full comprehensive treatment than someone who who's working at McDonald's.

SPEAKER_02Yeah, but he's an idiot. I mean, he doesn't care. But I'm I'm talking about somebody who knows, okay, something's wrong with me. I need to get some help, but he doesn't have the resources. Or or he doesn't know where to get the resources. Because bottom line, you know, in the end, I mean, even the poorest person has access to resources if they know where to go.
SPEAKER_03No, because a lot of the centers, you know, where that what was a spot that was out in Novi for years? Norville. Norville, I'm sorry. Yeah, but that that that that was one of the largest middle, you know, state hospital. Yeah, it was at but it's now it's been close for years now. But there's very few in the whole entire state. So you're you're looking at a situation where they'll just give you, you know, here's a pack of this, or here's a pack of that, take it home, you know, make sure that you know they they're taking that medication, but oh, that shit don't work. We know it don't work. Right. So now you got a situation where you know you're asking your aging parents to take care of this particular situation, or you now you got to get a sibling or a cousin or someone to take care of that. To Fernando's point and everything else, hence the reason why, you know, I'm almost certain that his foundation that he started for you know mental health, period. You know, that is is a greater problem than we think. A massive problem.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I just wanted for me who actually went through a lot, okay, more than people know, been abused growing up, not by my family, but stuff has been. And I've toughed it out. You know what I'm saying? I've toughed it out and became a better person.
SPEAKER_03That also doesn't you know equate to you know other people having the ability to do that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, some people just don't have it, you know, or that which leads me to believe that there's something in our food
Social Media AI And Teen Mental Health
SPEAKER_01that's not stimulating our brain to comprehend certain things.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's a possibility, but I don't think that flows with everybody. I think that's to Dennis's point again, and everything else, I think a lot of people are finding themselves, you know, in a situation now because. Their minds are preoccupied with social media, you know. And then, you know, I'm not blaming social media because we're that shit we're on. You know, but at the same time, you gotta take in take into account that social media is not your therapist. They're not. So hey, some people take it as it look and and and exactly.
SPEAKER_01And as you have you have the problem. Kids kill themselves because of the AI. Absolutely goddamn Lutley. You know what I'm saying? So which is just like social media.
SPEAKER_04Well the kids killed themselves in in silence prior to that.
SPEAKER_03Well, they also killed themselves before social media. Let me ask you exactly and adults too.
SPEAKER_02Look, you know what? You share Byron, I'm gonna share. I mean, my childhood was messed up, totally messed up. Ronnie knows, and what got me through was writing poetry. I mean, I got poetry going back 30, 40 years. But here's a question I want to ask. I mean, I don't know why I just popped in my head. Has AI actually helped anybody? I mean, we've only heard of how it caused you know the kids to off themselves. Has it actually helped anybody? I mean, I'm I'm just curious.
SPEAKER_04And if y'all don't know, I well now it depends on which facet. Yeah, I love it for work. Yep. Same here. I love it for work.
SPEAKER_01I don't like it for work, and I it's not even in my job. No, but I'm not sure. It's it's taking people's jobs.
SPEAKER_02I'm talking about a teenager, like they were saying that that these kids all of a sudden relying on AI as their conversation piece, they're relying on AI to help them through some some some serious questions or or this, that, and the third.
SPEAKER_04Well, I've got I'm not cutting you off. I got a good example of that.
Kids Struggle With Basic Math
SPEAKER_04Right now, and I've noticed because I you know got a young daughter that's coming up. These kids don't even know how to tell time. If you gave them a basic clock, they lost. An log clock, you're absolutely right.
SPEAKER_05I agree. I mean, yeah, everything.
SPEAKER_04Ask a kid was you know, 20 times two, was it? Just the basics. Oh my god. I gotta look that things that roll off of us, yeah.
SPEAKER_02They gotta work it for twenty, they gotta work it for 20 minutes and still get it. Yeah, they do. You know, the thing that gets me, they don't even know how to carry the one.

SPEAKER_04You know, I was in the dollar store, and this kid, you know, he had you know some money or enough, and you know, they gave him the total, and he's sitting there counting this out, trying to count it. Like, I'm like, oh Lord Jesus. And that boy, when he finally figured out he ain't have enough, he started to cry. So I stepped in, I paid for everything for him. I was like, Yep, nope, I got it, I got it. Oh my god, but that boy was like, Nice number one.
SPEAKER_03You know, it got out of hand when the boy was sitting on the floor and he was, you know, he took the socks and shoes off. Well, that's it. It didn't even get that far.
SPEAKER_04All of a sudden, and then when he when he gave up the last dollar and his hands started shaking, I was like, I got it, I got it, I got it. Good for you. Good for you. Yeah, the basic things that you're a beautiful person. Well, he was holding up the line, and I I had to go with it.
SPEAKER_03Well, you know, that's what I'm saying. I gotta go. They're like, hey, man, I got you to go. I don't think to Dennis's point and everything else, AI is not causing the problem. I think a lot of it is parents are not going back to verify these things with the children.
SPEAKER_04I mean, it's a tool. That's all it is.
SPEAKER_03It's all that we've had tools, our tools, fortunately, damn near was the abacus. You know, we had the abacus. You know, we had a calculator, right? You know, that kind of thing. Hell, I grew up with the TI, Texas TI, you know, and the Texas instrument shit. So again, now you got a situation where these kids don't even have to have it. We had the Chinese calculators, you know, and and the abacus, you know. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Sorry for me not knowing the goddamn right.
SPEAKER_03I mean that's what I said. I was just I was trying to tell you, abacus.

SPEAKER_03It was Chinese calculators. So again, that was the kind of shit that we grew up with because was something that challenged us and it was our brains working.

SPEAKER_03These kids go right to, you know, to your point, Dennis, AI. Yeah, and they'll ask the question. You know, hell, AI is now writing computer code. Yeah. And doing it a hell of a lot better than we are.
SPEAKER_01Take taking jobs.
SPEAKER_03That whole thing is getting scary as hell because some of the top coders in the world have tried to stomp some of the uh the you know, some of the actual AI engines. Can't do it. Can't do it. And and well, it learns from the people who have already input the shit into it. Right. So as you're putting things into it, it takes it and coagulates it, and they can actually compress it faster than your brain can be. Yeah, you can. Exactly. So again, this is we're in a different world, kids. We are, we're in a different world, you know. Again, back to the whole thing of you know, mental illness and everything else, we're in a different world.
